Design Thinking
You can change the world with a finger sketch on a steamy glass shower door.
We’re a small studio BIG on disruptive ideas, sparks of creative thought and aspirational energy!
We believe legendary research and design work is a result of deep empathy and understanding, meaningful inspiration, periods of incubation and reflection while collaborating and cross-pollinating with our network of industry professionals.
Embracing new technologies, materials, methods, strategies and openness to new visions have been key to building a learning organization contributing to positive change.

Learning + Framing
Learning through ethnographic studies involving empathy and user journey mapping initiates problem finding and framing. Framing is a way of structuring or presenting a problem or an issue. Framing involves explaining and describing the context of the problem to gain the most clarity from audiences and users while learning of pain points and needs. Framing hints at what the key issues are, who the stakeholders are and what possible areas of opportunity for change might be. Successful framing places a team in a favourable position to direct discussion of the problem and improves the chances of successful outcomes.
Analyzing + Defining
Analyzing framed information leads to a form of Sensemaking which refers to how we structure the unknown so as to be able to act on it. Sensemaking involves coming up with a plausible understanding through data organization, codifying and conversation and then refining, synthesizing or abandoning portions depending on how credible it is. Sensemaking enables teams to have a strong pulse on project challenges thus facilitating other design activities such as assessing, relating and inventing. Ultimately, analysis provides a greater ability to view a more defined vision, value proposition or business model.
Creating + Iterating
The heart of design thinking is lifting off from a computer screen or spreadsheet, to learn by doing, making, building, breaking and iterating. Creative and divergent ideas happen here to often produce magic-like new opportunities. Physical representation of new concepts through ideation sketching, models, prototypes and simulations breathe life into written words and generic images. It is often a quick test of ideas which show promise and can be iterated rapidly until they take sufficient shape to be developed. Desirability, feasibility and viability become clear through this process to guide further detailed development and refinement.
Testing + Actioning
Testing involves generating user feedback through participatory design related to prototypes developed, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of users. Initial testing leads to more intense stress testing to reduce risks and fully identify impediments to successful implementation or commercialization. As a circular design process, revisiting framing to re-frame is possible in order to tighten up greater definition to potentially generate additional iterations to ultimately deliver solutions that work, win in target market places and resonate within communities.
